Everyone keeps saying how well IT is doing at the box office, and the impact it's had for the horror genre. People are also quick to mention that it is the highest grossing (unadjusted of course) horror movie of all time.
There is something even more spectacular that people have yet to mention. 'IT' is about to enter the Top 10 Highest Grossing Movies of 2017!
Why is this unthinkable I hear you ask?
Well, let's look at the movies released in 2017. Transformers: The Last Knight, Logan, War for the Planet of the Apes, Kong: Skull Island just to name a few. A lot of these movies underperformed and a lot actually overperformed, but the surprise of 2017 has to go to be IT. If someone asked me my box office predictions for War for the Planet of the Apes and IT, I wouldn't even put them in the same category for box office success. At the time of writing, War is at $480m and IT is at $573m.
In 10th spot for 2017, is Transformers: The Last Knight with $605m. That movie seems to have ran it's course at the box office so 'IT' only has another $30m or so to catch up. I believe this will happen before the end of it's theatrical run. Truly remarkable!
